Curriculum vitae of Dr. F. M. Rutschi

Born in 1955 in Caracas (Venezuela) as a son of Swiss nationals, Federico graduated from Bern University Law School (Dr. iur.) in 1984. He then moved to Geneva where he worked as a legal counsel for a protection insurance company with special emphasis on liability law, transportation law, insurance law and contract law.

In 1989 he was employed at the Federal Commercial Registry, a division of the Swiss Department of Justice in Bern. His responsibilities there entailed the approval of cantonal registrations of companies and the appraisal of issues related to commercial and corporate law, foundations, administrative law, procedural law and international law.

In 1996 Federico moved to the USA to pursue further legal studies and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. (LL.M., Master of Laws). In 1997 he was also admitted to the New York Bar. Back in Switzerland, Federico passed the Swiss Bar exam in 1999 enabling him to practice law in Switzerland as well. He then worked with two law firms in Zurich before opening his own law office in the centre of Zurich in August 2003.
